Using ProjectSight
Import existing data from another system into ProjectSight using a structured Excel template. This guide walks you through exporting the template, mapping your data, and uploading it back.
Export the blank template Go to the RFI Register → Import/Export → Export Template. Download and save the Excel file. This template defines ProjectSight's required format and field structure. |
Prepare your data Open both the ProjectSight template and your source data (another system export or existing spreadsheet). Review the template carefully—red-highlighted fields are required and must be filled for import to succeed. |
Map and copy data For each column in the template, find the matching data from your source and copy it in. Keep formats consistent (dates, IDs, statuses) and don't modify the template structure. Do not add extra columns. |
Complete required fields Check that all red (required) fields are filled. If your source system is missing required values, add reasonable defaults or manually input the data. Missing required fields will cause the import to fail. |
Save the file Save your completed file in Excel format (.xlsx). Do not rename it or alter the structure beyond filling in the data. |
Import into ProjectSight Go to the RFI Register → Import, then upload your completed spreadsheet. ProjectSight will validate the file and provide feedback on any errors. |
Data imported successfully Your data is now in ProjectSight. All imported records will be visible and usable in the RFI Register. |
If errors occur: Download a fresh template (templates can only be used once). Correct the issues in your data and re-upload. Do not reuse the previous template. |
Best practices: • Always start with a fresh exported template • Verify all required fields before uploading • Keep data formats clean and consistent • Test with a small dataset first (optional but recommended) • Never edit the template structure |
